🏆 Derby West SNT – Neighbourhood Team of the Year! 🏆

On 17 November 2025, officers from the Derby West Safer Neighbourhood Team attended an awards evening celebrating exceptional achievements across the force.

We are proud to share that Derby West SNT were awarded Neighbourhood Team of the Year — and here’s why:

Derby West SNT cover a large and diverse area, including Littleover, Mickleover, Sunnyhill, Abbey, Normanton and Rosehill. The team deal with a broad range of challenges, from working closely with seldom‑heard communities and local schools, to providing reassurance patrols during times of unrest and gathering intelligence to tackle criminality. Their adaptability, dedication, and commitment to keeping communities safe truly set them apart.

Over the past year, the team have responded to significant local tensions influenced by global events, all while continuing proactive work to target illegal drugs activity and anti‑social behaviour. Their ability to engage, listen, and calm concerns has played a vital role in maintaining community cohesion.

The team has also carried out extensive community engagement to build trust and confidence in policing. PCSOs have formed strong relationships with community groups, places of worship, and schools, while officers have delivered effective enforcement through warrants, stop searches, and plain‑clothes patrols. Key projects have included work in Arboretum Park, Abbey Ward, Kingsway Retail Park, and support during national incidents, riots, and community parades.

Chief Constable Rachel Swan praised the team for their dedication, professionalism and their role in maintaining community cohesion during a challenging year.
